Frequently asked questions
What is the UK Master’s Readiness Check?
A free planning tool for international students thinking about a master’s degree in the UK. You answer 10 questions about job market research, Skilled Worker sponsorship, your course and university, skills and money, and get a readiness score with clear next steps.
How is the readiness score calculated?
Each question is rated from 0 to 4, giving a maximum of 40 (or 36 if you have no loan). Your total becomes a percentage and a readiness level, from Level 1 (pause and plan) to Level 4 (good preparation).
Does a high score mean I will get a job or visa sponsorship?
No. The score is for planning only. It does not guarantee admission, a job offer or visa sponsorship. Always check the latest rules on GOV.UK.
Is this immigration advice?
No. UKBuddy shares research-based information to support your own decision. For advice on your personal situation, speak to an OISC-regulated immigration adviser or a qualified immigration solicitor.
Are my answers saved or shared?
Your answers are saved only in your own browser so you can come back later. If you leave a rating, we store the rating, any comment and your readiness score anonymously to improve the tool.
Is the readiness check free?
Yes. The readiness check is completely free to use.
